Description
This is a reprint of a book I wrote back in the 1980s after my voyage in the wake of the Vikings. It won the ‘Best Book of the Sea’ award in 1988, but has been out of print for many years. It will be available as a paperback shortly (mid September).
I’ve also made an audio version of the book which is free for members of my Sea Chest Club, but will also shortly be available on Audible.

In 1983 I set off from Brighton in our 50ft gaff-rigged 1911 Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter with my wife, Ros and our four-year-old daughter Hannah, to retrace the Viking’s westward push from Norway to Iceland, to Greenland and thence to their excavated colony on Newfoundland.
In addition to my family, we had on board four guys, including Chris Stewart, ex-drummer from Genesis and subsequent best-selling author. The troubles we encounter on our voyage to the New World are woven with those of the Vikings. With one of the worst ice years on record, will we make it?
