Don’t hog the hammerhead

Hammerhead marina berths can seem as rare as oaks growing in mid-Channel, especially if you’ve a larger-than-average yacht. A special place is reserved in a nasty corner of Davy Jones’ Locker for those thoughtless mariners who secure bang in the middle and take up space enough for two. If there’s a vacant berth inside – even an inconvenient one – leave the hammerhead for those who really need it. If you’re one of these, secure right at the end so there’s room for someone else to squeeze alongside the berth after you’ve turned in.
