The Choice Raymarine plotter is set up to show both the conventional ways of navigating to a waypoint. Interestingly, the speed is given as 14 knots which means that almost certainly it’s a motorboat steering a straight line. If so, the rolling road display at the top will be handy with its instant graphic indication of what the driver needs to do to keep bang on track. We sailors are usually better off with the lower screen. All we need do is steer so our COG (Course over Ground) coincides with the bearing of the waypoint, check the chart to make sure it’s a safe track, and it’ll all happen. The arrow at the bottom even shows which way to steer. Far less demanding. Much lower stress.
